San Antonio Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. Foundation
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Foundation is seeking published authors to participate in our renowned Martin Luther King Legacy Celebration in January, 2023. The 5TH Annual MLK Authors’ Summit will be presented by the Literary Empowerment Networking (LENS) committee.
LENS provides published authors a platform to present their books to a diverse group of readers, with the purpose of encouraging reading, supporting authors and providing scholarship funding for deserving students.
Interested authors have an opportunity to showcase and market their work at a luncheon on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Out of town authors may present virtually. For optimum exposure, the broadcast of author presentations will be shown on all TAAN-TV platforms.
Interested authors are asked to do the following:
- Submit the Authors’ Submission Application that can be downloaded here, along with a video described below. The Application is due no later than Monday, October 24, 2022. Please submit to rbean@mlksanantonio.org. All questions and additional inquiries should be directed to Rose Bean at 210-846-0611 or Paula Applin at 210-333-8643 or sispma55@gmail.com.
- Submit a video that will be your formal presentation at the luncheon as well as to the virtual audience. The video should introduce your book or project by exploring its theme and/or purpose. The video should not exceed four (4) minutes. Submit the video to Rose Bean at rbean@mlksanantonio.org on/or before Monday, October 24, 2022. Invited authors will receive an acceptance letter by Saturday, November 5, 2022
- Submit the registration fee of $75 as a presenting author in the 5TH Annual MLK Authors’ Summit by Friday, December 2, 2022. The registration fee includes your luncheon cost of $25 plus a $50 LENS Registration fee. Click here to access PayPal.
- Authors are expected to invite a minimum of 9 supporting guests to attend this lovely literary luncheon event. Please submit the names and email addresses of your invited guests by Friday, December 2nd. Advanced luncheon payment of $25 per guest due by Friday, December 2nd can be submitted as a group by author or individually. Click here to access PayPal.
Selected authors will have their books highlighted for one month throughout the year on the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Foundation website. The goal is to support and promote your book(s) and its contribution to the literary community via a link to your website for one month in 2023.

The Foundation anticipates selecting approximately five (5) authors who will be contacted and informed of their selection no later than Saturday, November 5, 2022.
